Teachers

Teachers are the heart of City Neighbors-and co-creators of our schools. We work to create an environment where teachers can do their best work. Teachers are experts, craftsmen, artists, nurturers, and community builders.

Project-Based Learning

Through deep, long-term studies, students explore the ideas and influences that shape their lives. Learning has meaning. The work has a purpose. The lessons are deep and long-lasting.

Arts Integration

The arts are essential to learning. Arts integration helps students students deepen and express their understanding, nurtures creativity and expression, and inspires learning.

The physical environment is the third teacher. The physical environment matters in its beauty, function, and philosophical alignment. It communicates value and worth to those in it.

The Reggio Emilia schools of Italy inspire our work. The Reggio Emilia philosophy centers the child, their interests, their needs, and their wellness at the center of the school.

Parent Partnership

A parent-school partnership benefits everyone. Through our unique governance model, parents partner with our schools at every level of school operation-budgeting , community events, accountability, facilities, communication, and more.

Standardized Testing

High-stakes standardized testing co-opts curriculum, deadens inspiration and innovative thinking and undermines equity. Standardized testing does not drive our teaching and learning.
